Talalay Latex
Talalay latex breathes up to 7x better than other foams or latex. The talalay cells resist collapsing, allowing air to circulate. This type of latex is hypoallergenic, and is inherently resistant to mold, bacteria and mildew. More benefits of Talalay latex are:
- Superior support and pressure relief.
- Unmatched durability and and breath-ability due to its most consistent cell structure.
- Consistant temperature feeling from top to bottom; no tossing and turning!
Natural Latex Mattress FAQs
I have allergies, what would be good for me?
Natural Latex is inherently hypo-allergenic, anti- microbial, and dust mite resistant, making it perfect for allergy sufferers or anyone wanting to breathe fresh, clean air while they sleep. In addition, natural latex is breathable, keeping you warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. It costs a little more, but in the long run, it will provide you with the perfect balance of comfort and support for years to come. Our latex is in the form of a foam. There have not been any reported cases of allergies to latex foam. People that are allergic to latex are normally allergic to the type of latex used in making latex gloves. This type of latex in not vulcanized. Cellitex and Talalay latex, used in the Ironman Pure Energy Mattress, are both completed vulcanized (the process of washing out the proteins and impurities).
What is natural latex?
Natural latex is made from a milky substance that drips from the rubber tree when the bark is slashed. The process does not hurt the tree. During production, the latex resin is whipped and then baked. The finished product is biodegradable.
What is natural latex mattress?
Every aspect of our lives benefit from research and development, and how we sleep has been extensively looked at. From the mattress we sleep on to how our brains function to how we function from a good sleep vs. a poor sleep, there is no shortage of investigation into this part of our lives.
If you are a seeker of all things sleep, you have probably come across the term “natural latex mattress”. And you may have questions. This article will attempt to answer some of the most pressing questions about latex mattresses.
What is a natural latex mattress?
First, the basics. Latex is a naturally occurring rubber material that comes straight from the rubber tree. The tree is tapped and the latex is collected, combined with a recipe of products to help it solidify, then poured into a mold in the shape of a mattress. From here it is baked and cured so that it becomes the resilient, reliable mattress we know today.
Is a natural latex mattress made of pure latex?
Not exactly. As mentioned, latex needs to be combined with some curing agents in order for it to harden. It would otherwise be a runny soup-like substance and not at all suitable for sleep. But it is a small portion of the overall material. Latex mattresses are made of 95-97% latex directly from the source, and usually contain somewhere between 3-5% of a product that is a curing agent, usually a combination of Sulphur and zinc oxide.
Are natural latex mattresses good for the body?
In many ways, yes. People seeking a new sleep experience often land on natural latex mattresses for a few reasons.
For any body, no matter the shape or size, latex mattresses provide high quality support. The material reacts and responds to the body's weight and provides custom support to the body. People who sleep on natural latex mattresses often report that their quality of sleep has changed completely. They wake up every day feeling rested and the chronic aches and pains they have lived with for years begin to fade. If you wake up with sore muscles and joints, there is a good chance that changing your mattress will help this situation.
With a natural latex mattress, the mattress responds to the contours of your body and provides support exactly where you need it, like your hips and spine. And if you are sleeping next to a partner, you won’t be disturbed by their movements, so you can enjoy a deep rest even if they toss and turn.
The latex mattress is also naturally antibacterial unlike conventional mattresses, which can cause people with respiratory issues or allergies to have reactions.
Are latex mattresses good for the earth?
Conventional mattresses use a combination of synthetic polymers that break down quickly and need replacing usually once a decade. Natural latex, on the other hand, is durable and the rubber will last for up to three times as long as a conventional mattress, without losing its shape or firmness. So fewer latex mattresses end up in the landfill.
Natural latex mattresses are a new innovation in healthy sleeping technology that can be custom designed so that you get a comfortable, restful sleep. And not only are they good for you, they are good for the environment, too. From elite athletes to seniors to people suffering chronic pain, relief and sleep can be found with a natural latex mattress.
Will it support my back?
Natural Latex dynamically conforms to you, providing superior support and 5-zone pressure relief by gently conforming to your every contour. Latex provides superior back support and outstanding pressure relief. Relieving pressure reduces the tossing and turning that interrupts sleep and brings needed oxygen and nutrients to tired aching muscles for faster recovery.
What is the difference between Latex used in mattresses and Latex used in gloves and other products?
The latex used to make latex gloves are made of closed cell structure. Having closed cells makes it impossible to wash out the proteins, which some people can be allergic to. The latex used in the Ironman Pure Energy Mattress is a foam with open cells. The latex foam used in our mattresses is washed several times to wash out these proteins. This process is called vulcanization. Vulcanization of a 5-stage high temperature sterilization and washing process that denatures and removes all impurities and proteins that may cause allergic reactions.
"When it comes to mattress cores, the key fact you have to keep in mind is that, according to medical literature, not a single case of allergic reaction has ever been reported as a consequence of sleeping on a natural latex mattress. The allergy risk connected with mattress core core negligible, because the latex core is washed thoroughly, the proteins responsible for triggering any allergic reaction are denatured by the high temperatures during vulcanization"Professor Dr.Wim Stevens,Head of the Dept."Immunology,Rheumatology en Allergies" in the University Hospital of Antwerp (Belgium) and Head of the "Immunology" Laboratory of the UIA. Latex vs. Memory Foam Mattresses
With Natural Latex Mattresses, the room does not need to be 65 degrees or higher. Latex has energy helping you to assume a new sleep position, while memory foam creates a 'crater' for your body, and you need to physically wake up and lift your body to a new position. Natural Latex is naturally conforming to assure optimal orthopedic support in any sleep position. This helps your body alleviate high pressure areas that can cause you to toss and turn at night.
